The 180 degree rule is a well known filiming methos in the film industry. It states that two characters or elements in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called, 'crossing the line'. If you do this you must show the viewer you have done so. The new shot after crossing the line is called revers angle.
Knowing this enables us to use the 180 degree rule correctly at the correct moments in our film, say, when someone is having a conversation with a friend.
